Eat West Coast is everything food on the west coast of Vancouver Island. We want a region where food is celebrated, abundant, and integral to the culture, health, economy, and community well-being for all residents. Eat West Coast is a strategy of the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust. We are hub for food security and healthy communities programs and activity throughout the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve region. We are supported in part by Island Health’s Community Food Action Initiative. Our communities include Macoah, Hitacu, Ucluelet, Esowista/Ty-Histanis, Tofino, Opitsaht, Ahousaht and Hot Springs Cove.
Vic west food security collective maintains one community orchard – Evans Orchard – and two more at design stage – Hereward Park Community Orchard and Banfield Park Community Orchard. If you would like to help grow any of these gardens please contact email@example.com
Vic West’s first community garden. Created in 2004 converting a garbage dump area in a gravel parking lot to an organic garden with nine raised allotment beds, common beds and planters for perennial fruits and veggies, shared 3-bin compost, picnic table and benches for visitors, and urban barn for tools.
