The facility at 140 Oswego Street is shared by the Elementary School and the Community Centre. The physical connection with the Community School facilitates the integration of programs and services between the Centre and the School. As such, many of our rooms act as school classrooms during the day and venues for recreation and leisure programs during the evenings and weekends. Shared space is a cornerstone of a well-integrated community school. This unique relationship is made possible thanks to a partnership between the Greater Victoria School District, the City of Victoria and the James Bay Community School Society.

Programs and services delivered at the James Bay Community School Centre have the following elements:

  • Community use of facilities
  • Supporting and enhancing student learning
  • Community connections and engagements
  • Community and Continuing Education
  • Integrated Services with Agencies and organizations
  • Family Support Services
  • Early Learning Initiatives
