Community consultation has shown that access to local wild seafood is difficult in many of the remote communities in the Strathcona Regional District, despite our abundance of wild seafood resources. Greenways is carrying out research to determine why this is the case and what we can do to support more wild seafood being available to local residents.
Eat West Coast is everything food on the west coast of Vancouver Island. We want a region where food is celebrated, abundant, and integral to the culture, health, economy, and community well-being for all residents. Eat West Coast is a strategy of the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust. We are hub for food security and healthy communities programs and activity throughout the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve region. We are supported in part by Island Health’s Community Food Action Initiative. Our communities include Macoah, Hitacu, Ucluelet, Esowista/Ty-Histanis, Tofino, Opitsaht, Ahousaht and Hot Springs Cove.
