Along with providing access to healthy, nutritious food, the program aims to educate our community about household food waste. Leftover produce that will not last until the next week’s shop is transformed in tasty meals and baked goods or chopped, blanched, and frozen in small batches for participants to cook into future meals. Recipes and techniques are shared with participants regularly and program volunteers create information sheets with food storage tips and alternative uses for common foods.
