The Fairfield Gonzales Community Association pursues our vision through the development and delivery of inclusive and effective community-focused programs and projects. We support our neighbourhood, create a haven and a warm welcome for community members, and seek the building of connections and collaborations with likeminded individuals to assist Fairfield and Gonzales neighbourhoods in enhancing their community’s vitality.

The FGCA is a Community Centre and Neighbourhood House that offers a variety of programs and services for individuals and families in the community. Staff and volunteers strive to reflect and respond to community needs. Our programs are the result of the hard work of a large number of Fairfield residents and dedicated staff.

Out-of-School Care

Emphasizing fun, safety and fair play in a positive environment, child care is provided for over 200 families. Our licensed Before and After School Care, along with Kinder Care, are available for children 5-12 years of age who attend Sir James Douglas, Margaret Jenkins and Sundance Elementary Schools. Operating five days a week, child care workers provide a variety of activities and special events. Furthermore, join us in July and August for our summer day programs.

Recreation Services

The goal of the Fairfield Gonzales Community Association recreation programs is to strengthen community through programs, services and facilities which enhance personal development, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage community involvement, and foster environmental stewardship. Inclusiveness and access for all are important aspects of our service delivery. We offer recreation programs for children and adults that include creative and performing arts, health and wellness, continuous learning as well as youth drop-in and adult badminton programs. All programs are in partnership with the City of Victoria.

Family Programs and Support Services

Family programs provide social and recreational opportunities for families to engage and build supportive relationships with other families. Activities include informal playtime drop-ins, pre-registered groups and two licensed preschools. Families and individuals also access resource services in the community through our centre. The age focus of our programs is children from birth to six years as part of the Community Action Plan for Children (CAPC), a program funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Youth Programs

Outreach and recreation programs are available to youth 10-17 years of age. Offered in safe, comfortable environments, programs include sport drop-ins, outreach programs, youth getaways and special events. Youth Outreach is a partnership with Oaklands Community Association, Fernwood Community Association and the City of Victoria to connect youth to their community recreation and social opportunities. Please see left side navigation bar for details.
