The Compost Education Centre (CEC) is a non-profit organization with charitable status providing composting and ecological gardening education to the residents of Greater Victoria and the Capital Regional District (CRD). Since 1992, the CEC has provided interactive programming to students both in classrooms and onsite at our beautiful demonstration gardens in Victoria. The CEC offers community education for all ages on composting, soil conservation, conservation, food growing and environmental stewardship. Along with a core workshop series on Composting and Soil Science, the CEC also hosts popular and accessible weekend workshops on a variety of food, gardening and sustainability related topics, bringing in expert teachers and providing unique education opportunities to the public. As a public garden and retail space, staff of the CEC are available to sell composting accessories and organic garden seeds, as well as skillfully answer compost and gardening questions. The CEC has an active schools program, as well as community education, hired by organizations to teach specific courses on soils/composting/growing food.
