Focusing on daily small practices leads to big results
BGCA operates an allotment garden in Cecelia Ravine Park. Plots are rented out annually to local residents. A wait-list is currently being taken.
The Burnside Gorge Community Association has been providing a free weekly meal since 2002. Special holiday meals are served at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving.
Socialize with other seniors in the community while enjoying a delicious and nutritious homemade meal. This program features a mix of guest speakers, social activities and theme activities during the holiday seasons.
Vic West’s first community garden. Created in 2004 converting a garbage dump area in a gravel parking lot to an organic garden with nine raised allotment beds, common beds and planters for perennial fruits and veggies, shared 3-bin compost, picnic table and benches for visitors, and urban barn for tools.
No need to cook and eat alone! Social Cooking sessions are offered at Gordon Head Recreation Centre and GR Pearkes Recreation Centre bi-weekly. This is not a cooking instruction class but a cooperative, fun social time to cook together and enjoy a meal. Everything provided, just bring an apron and extra container in case of leftovers!
Welcome Gardens! participants are experienced gardeners willing to share their garden or knowledge and less experienced gardeners wanting to share the work and learn how to grow a garden in Victoria!
