The object of the program is to provide nutritious meals to seniors in a friendly and caring environment and provide a place to encourage social interaction between all members of the community. The 55+ dinner program operates with a large volunteer component and a roster of mostly senior volunteers. Dinners are served every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 5pm from mid-September to the end of June. Some special dinners require the advance purchase of a ticket. Pay as you go or purchase a punch card, meals are provided at a low cost due to a subsidy provided by the Vancouver Island Health Authority. Make friends or bring along your own for a three course meal.
The Downtown Community Centre provides healthy choices for people wanting to connect more socially — and is open to everyone. Uniquely, all of Cool Aid’s programs are free, including equipment, transportation & supplies. Offerings vary and include sports, cooking classes, skills development and the arts. Check out our programs and activities on Facebook.
If you would like to share a lunch with us, we ask you to be at the house at least one hour prior to the meal.
At Our Place, a meal is more than just food.
It is a chance to mingle with friends, receive a warm smile from the volunteers, a handshake or a hug. It is an opportunity to be part of a community.
Come and join our team as we serve a monthly breakfast to Victoria's street community every Saturday of the month.
